Goals and Philosophy

To build character in our youth while teaching and promoting ice hockey.  To encourage all persons who participate within the club to follow and uphold the ideals of good sportsmanship, honesty, fair play and self improvement. To provide an opportunity for players at the developmental levels to learn the basic skills of ice hockey without an over emphasis on winning. To provide an environment that encourages players to move on to the next level in ice hockey after they graduate from our program.

PIHL All Star Weekend - The Peters Township Indians were well represented in the recent PIHL All Star game at the Ice Castle.  Seniors Paul Henney, Kevin Hough, Drew Rubeo, Ryan Tingle, and Matt White played for the Southwestern All Stars in this annual game.

Madore in Frozen Four! Rob Madore, 2 time state champion netminder with the Peters Township Indians, and freshman goaltender with the University of Vermont, leads the Catamounts into the NCAA Frozen Four tournament with a semi-final game against top ranked Boston University.  Contratulations to Rob on his accomplishments and good luck to him in the NCAA Semi-Final game.

Another NHL'er - Peters Township's own Christian Hanson, who as a freshman helped the Indians to their first Penguin Cup and Pennsylvania State Championship in 2002, has signed a contract with the Toronto Maple Leafs.  After his freshman year at Peters, Hanson left to play in the USHL and then went on to star with fellow Peters alum Christian Minella at Notre Dame.  Please join the club in wishing Christian much success in the National Hockey League!

Developmental Equipment Checklist - Full hockey equipment is required for all of our developmental players.  Equipment can be purchased new from local suppliers KoSports in Canonsburg or Perani's in Greentree.  In addition, numerous on-line stores also carry hockey equipment.  Of course, the cheapest and best way of outfitting your young hockey player is to borrow/buy some used equipment from older kids that have outgrown their equipment.  The following is a list of required equipment:

Hockey Helmet with full cage
Mouth Guard
Neck Guard
Shoulder Pads
Elbow Pads
Hockey Gloves
Hockey Pants
Athletic Supporter with Cup
Shin Guards
Hockey Socks to cover Shin Guards
Hockey Skates
Hockey Stick (straight blade if unsure if player is right or left handed shot)

NHL Bound!!!  Congratulations to Matt Clackson on his recent selection by the Philadelphia Flyers in the 2005 NHL draft.  Matt was a standout player during his 4 years playing for PTHC and a major contributor to our first two State Championship teams.  Matt showed tremendous dedication to the PTHC program during his outstanding youth hockey career, playing varsity hockey through his senior season while also playing for the Pittsburgh Hornets Midget Major AAA team.  Congratulations again Matt and best of luck to you!!!
