11/11/08 Rematch against Canon Mac: 

Peter’s freshman team avenged the tie against Cannon Mac with a 4-0 win at the Iceoplex Tuesday night. Peter’s dominated play and jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the first period. Mitchell Stowers started the scoring at 10:28 of the first period with assists from Brian Baker and Sam Barnes. At the 9:57 mark again in the first, Sam Barnes scored a goal just 31 seconds later to make it a 2-0 game and Sam’s second point of the game. Then at the 8:47 mark still in the first period Davan Groom scored a goal that was assisted by Giovanni Carbonarra and Kyle Moss. Peter’s continued to pressure Cannon Mac but could not beat their goalie until the 9:50 mark of the third when Davan Groom scored his second goal with assists from Alex Debolt and Giovanni Carbonarra. Giovanni picked up his second assist of the night. Peter’s out shot Cannon Mac 22 to 8 and Jesse Borne picked up his first shut out of the season. Peters will go on the road Thursday night to play a tough Chartiers Valley team @ Mt. Lebanon Ice Arena at 7:00 PM. 

11/6/08 Tough road game loss 3-5

Peter’s freshman team traveled to Bethel Blade Runners to take on Bethel Park on Tuesday night. Although they were out sized they gave Bethel all they could handle in a 3-5 loss. Bethel jumped out to a 4-1 lead. Our boys did not give up and continued to battle back by scoring two goals in the third period to make the final score respectable. 6th grader Sam Barnes started the scoring for Peters with an unassisted goal at the 6:54 mark of the first period. Goalie and part time forward Brian Baker scored the second goal at the 10:41 mark of the third period. Assists were given to Brock Burns and Sam Barnes. Peters scored their third goal at the :43 mark of the third when Kyle Moss got an unassisted goal. The shots on goal were Peters 20 and Bethel 33. Brian Baker and Jesse Borne both spit time in goal and stopped 28 of 33 shots. Peter’s next game will be a rematch with Cannon Mac on Tuesday night 11/11 at Iceoplex @ 8:45 PM start time. 

10/28/08 Season Opener 

The very young Peters freshman team battled arch rival Cannon Mac to a 1-1 tie at the Iceoplex on Tuesday night for their season opener. Peters scored first at the 3:47 mark of the second period when 7th grader Kyle Moss beat the Cannon Mac goalie. Assists were given to Sam Barnes and Brian Baker. Cannon Mac did not give up and continued to pressure Peters by registering 32 shots on the Peters net minder. Peters took a tripping penalty and put Cannon Mac on the power play in the third period. That was the break they need and Cannon Mac got the equalizer to tie the game. The final shots on goal were Peters 12 and Cannon Mac 32. Peter’s defense played a strong game and 7th grade goalie Jesse Borne played strong in net stopping 31 of 32 shot including numerous odd man breaks. Peters Freshman will travel to Bethel Blade Runners Thursday 11/6/08 to play Bethel Park at 7:00 PM.
