Goals and Philosophy

To build character in our youth while teaching and promoting ice hockey.  To encourage all persons who participate within the club to follow and uphold the ideals of good sportsmanship, honesty, fair play and self improvement. To provide an opportunity for players at the developmental levels to learn the basic skills of ice hockey without an over emphasis on winning. To provide an environment that encourages players to move on to the next level in ice hockey after they graduate from our program.

Club News

Preseason Camp - It's HOCKEY season!!!  PT's preseason evaluation camps begin on Tuesday evening September 2nd at the Iceoplex at Southpointe.  Please check the calendar for specific times and age groups.

Developmental Team Forming!!! Hockey excitement in Pittsburgh is at an all-time high.  The Penguins are sold out for the year and should challenge for the Stanley Cup for years to come.  The Iceoplex at Southpointe, home of the Peters Township hockey club is also back to hosting the Penguins this upcoming season for numerous practice sessions.  Like the last time the Penguins were winning Stanley Cups, your children will want to try their hand at the fastest game on ice and we have the PERFECT opportunity to let them do just that.  The Peters Township Developmental hockey program is designed for PT children in grades 1 thru 6 that are interested in the game of ice hockey.  Any and all skill levels are welcome.  Beginners can use the opportunity to learn to skate while intermediate and advanced hockey players can get valuable additional ice time while playing for their school!  Please check back to this site for details on the informational meeting at a place and time yet to be determined...

Developmental Equipment Checklist - Full hockey equipment is required for all of our developmental players.  Equipment can be purchased new from local suppliers KoSports in Canonsburg or Perani's in Greentree.  In addition, numerous on-line stores also carry hockey equipment.  Of course, the cheapest and best way of outfitting your young hockey player is to borrow/buy some used equipment from older kids that have outgrown their equipment.  The following is a list of required equipment:

Hockey Helmet with full cage
Mouth Guard
Neck Guard
Shoulder Pads
Elbow Pads
Hockey Gloves
Hockey Pants
Athletic Supporter with Cup
Shin Guards
Hockey Socks to cover Shin Guards
Hockey Skates
Hockey Stick (straight blade if unsure if player is right or left handed shot)

NHL Bound!!!  Congratulations to Matt Clackson on his recent selection by the Philadelphia Flyers in the 2005 NHL draft.  Matt was a standout player during his 4 years playing for PTHC and a major contributor to our first two State Championship teams.  Matt showed tremendous dedication to the PTHC program during his outstanding youth hockey career, playing varsity hockey through his senior season while also playing for the Pittsburgh Hornets Midget Major AAA team.  Congratulations again Matt and best of luck to you!!!
